Davis Theater
Those who have frequented the Davis Theater over the years might harbor a little bit of nostalgia for the pre-renovation version of this beloved neighborhood cinematheque, with its loud, creaky metal row-chairs and duct-tape-strength floor stickiness. Those memories have thankfully faded, replaced with high aesthetics and museum-quality luxe, a new model of a movie theater where you can munch gourmet kernels and sip cocktails in situ, upscaled screens, projection tech and sound systems, a true restoration of the Davis to its long-faded historic grandeur. Funny thing about nostalgia, of course, is that it burnishes the memory of a thing that never existed, and today’s Davis is better than it ever was.
