The North Lawndale location of much of Chicago’s production boom, the thirty-stage, nearly sixty-acre CInespace campus, which also houses the Lagunitas brewery, recently received permission to gate its expanse, which increases security but also offers an opportunity to bring the world, or the tourist trade, to its location. Taking a page from Lagunitas, which gave a reported 400,000 tours in 2016 alone, Cinespace hopes to create a backlot studio tour to rival those conducted by the Los Angeles film studios. It’s like the old saying that the stockyards processed everything but the squeal: One Chicago: all opportunities.
