”Ozark”
”Ozark,” a kind of “Breaking Bad”-lite debuted on Netflix this summer, following financial planner Marty Byrde (Jason Bateman), who launders money for a drug cartel. Beautiful shots of Chicago open the show, including Bateman strolling through Millennium Park, and a not-so-nice shot of a dead body dropped onto the corner of Garland and Lake. But when things go sideways—it always does on these shows—Bateman moves his family to Lake of the Ozarks so he can launder even more money. Bateman meets a local Cardinals fan who asks him if his love for the Cubs is a “lifelong affliction or just since it got fashionable.” He replies that it “came with the territory.” Marty’s wife, played by Laura Linney, dons a Murphy’s Bleachers T-shirt, giving a quiet shoutout to her character’s old life.
