Half Shell
Below street level and off-the-radar for most who don’t live in the immediate neighborhood, Half Shell has served oysters, clams, crab and other tasty sea creatures since 1968, making this basement bar one of the longest-running Chicago restaurants. The decor seems like it hasn’t changed that much since 1968. The prices are a throwback, too: you’re not likely to find a half-dozen well-shucked oysters or clams for under $10 anywhere else.
