Chicago isn’t known as a country-music town, but WUSN-FM has long been a broadcasting juggernaut, so the audience for torch and twang is clearly there. Since 2015, WUSN has had a hotter, hipper alternative in WEBG, a.k.a. “Big 95.5,” among whose assets are a millennials-friendly playlist and a charismatic morning-drive host in Bobby Bones. In June, the station scored a coup by signing former WUSN morning host Lisa Dent. Big 95.5 is also social-media savvy, with a comprehensive web presence that includes a slate of dedicated podcasts.
