Mies van der Rohe’s McCormick House
After nearly twenty-five years, the biggest, most-anticipated event of the Elmhurst Art Museum is here: Mies van der Rohe’s McCormick House is open to the public. The restoration of its original façade reveals the building’s full exterior for the first time. Multidisciplinary artist Iñigo Manglano-Ovalle’s architectural installation “Untitled Film (Red),” features colored film placed over every floor-to-ceiling window. The eye takes a while to adjust to the red glare—a new, surreal reality—but when it does, one is able to appreciate the masterful blend between old and new. (Vasia Rigou)
