The sophomore outing of Cinepocalypse, the Midwest’s largest event for genre films and fans notched nine world premieres as well as a twenty-percent growth in attendance over its 2017 debut. Cinepocalypse’s week in June at the Music Box presented special guest Lana Wachowski and a Lifetime Achievement Award for cinematographer-director Ernest R. Dickerson. June makes an auspicious slate for future festivals that draw on the inspiration of Montréal’s Fantasia International Film Festival (July), Fantastic Fest in Austin (September) and the granddaddy of genre get-togethers, the Sitges International Festival of Fantastic Film in Spain (October).
