Farm on Ogden
When Whole Foods Market opened in Englewood in 2016, people had opinions, both good and bad. Stereotypes be damned. But in December of that same year, a $3.5 million decision was made to extend a food retail experiment into something greater. Thus the concept of cultivating a farm on the West Side was birthed. The Farm On Ogden (part of a joint venture between Windy City Harvest, Lawndale Christian Health Center and Chicago Botanic Garden farming program) opened in June and serves as a homegrown food and educational and employment space heretofore unseen in the ‘hood.
