Summer House Santa Monica
The first time I visited Summer House Santa Monica, the city was in full thrall to winter. Snowdrifts piled in corners and on roof edges. I had on seven layers of clothing. But once I crossed the threshold into the restaurant, I was transported to sunny, sultry California. The beach vibes were strong; languid ferns and wicker furniture set an easy and relaxing scene. Before long, I was shedding sweaters and sipping rosé like it was July. If you need a shot of summer when that winter wind blows, this is the spot. (Lauren Knight)
