At Christmas, there’s no better place to take the kids or grandparents to dinner than the Walnut Room at Marshall Field’s. It’s technically Macy’s, but we still call the Sears Tower the Sears Tower, too. The walnut-lined room is made for the very young or very old: the kids love it because there’s a huge Tannenbaum and fairies; the older folks love it because of tradition. Mrs. Herring’s Chicken Pot Pie may not be the best, but it doesn’t matter: it’s Christmas. (David Hammond)
