Humboldt House
Claire Tibbs handpicks jewelry, tapestry, found furniture and handmade goods, all made by Chicago designers, makers and artists. There are colorful rugs and pillows, ceramics, crystal pipes and an apothecary section with candles, incense, sage, sweet grass, palo santo and many “empowered objects for radical homes,” as she puts it. But the Humboldt Park neighborhood shop strives to also be an incubator, a platform to support local small businesses and an open space for experimentation. Humboldt House is a community of like-minded individuals that share creative ideas and motivate one another. Mandatory: check out the Lost Girls Vintage pop-up shop under the same roof. (Vasia Rigou)
